How We StartedMeet the Exec

Here you can find out who's on the JCR Exec, what they do and how you can get in touch with them. You can also find out about the various reps in college at the bottom of the page. To find out what the exec are up to right now, check the news page.

President - Marlene Cayoun

As President, my job is to organize and coordinate the work of the exec, to represent LMH JCR to the wider university, and to provide a link in communication with the MCR and SCR. I’m your point of contact for anything that doesn’t seem to fit anywhere else – any complaints or concerns you have that you don’t know where to direct, any ideas you have for the JCR, and help you require with something that goes outside of college. I’ll be chairing JCR meetings every fortnight, e-mailing the JCR every week, and sitting on college committees, including Governing Body, several times a week. There are some important things I’m aiming to improve this academic year, and I’ll be trying to communicate the work I do to you as often as possible. Most importantly, I’d like you to be able contact me whenever you feel the need to. Please do e-mail me at marlene.cayoun@lmh.ox.ac.uk, or phone on 01865 511 294.

Vice-President - Matthew Henshall

The role of Vice-President is currently held by Matt Henshall, but a bi-election will be taking place this term to appoint a new candidate. (More details to follow.)

Treasurer - Aisling Pringleton

Hi, Im Aisling, JCR treasurer. I basically manage the JCR's money. I make sure that the JCR can pay all of its bills, and be able to afford to spend its money on what we choose to - planning bops, freshers' week,
redecorating the college bar etc. I can decide what the budget is spent on, so if you would like money for a society, event, or a charity, you can bring a motion to ask for it at a JCR meeting, or e-mail me with any requests.

Welfare Officer - Amy Beveridge

Welfare Officer - Jake Leeper

Hey guys, we're the welfare officers on the LMH exec. We do our best to make sure that you guys are all looked after in every way we can think!! From meetings with the SCR, to pestering you with emails, to sweet-talking the porters and of course, to chocolates and all the free food dished out at our ‘soon-to-be-declared-legendary’ post bop brunches, we try our best to make your life at LMH that little bit sweeter.

We look after and keep up-to-date the welfare notice boards and cupboards and make sure that any welfare information that might pertain to you gets brought to your attention. We also try to be friendly faces around college that hopefully everyone feels able to come up to or approach if you’ve ever got any questions (about absolutely anything). We're happy to meet you
in college or go out for a discrete pint or cup of tea!

We help to get you free stuff, like alarms, massage/relaxation classes, chocolates, films, all sorts, and hope that anyone who has any uncertainties, problems or suggestions feels able to get in touch with us if they like, whether in person or by e-mail or phone. (Amy's room is Katy Lea 203, mobile number 07917457368, e-mail amy.beveridge@lmh.ox.ac.uk; Jake's room is Deneke West 84, e-mail jake.leeper@lmh.ox.ac.uk)

Access and Academic Affairs Officer - Martin Nelson

I'm Martin, Access and Academic Affairs Officer. My room is Sutherland 001 - food, drink and money are appreciated, but if you want to just come and talk then that's OK too.

Talk about what? Well, I'm supposed to be your port of call if/when work here at LMH becomes just too much. I have monthly meetings with the senior tutor, and can act as a go-between between you and her, or advise you with work problems, or take you through the college regulations for doing this and that. Changing course, complaining about tutors and learning skills advice are all stuff I do.

I also jealously guard the careers noticeboard in the JCR, until the college gives me a one in Hell's passage. But much more interesting is my Access role, and of course my Access monkeys. Everything you have been told about Access is a lie (unless I told it to you, in which case it is merely misinformed). It's simply an attempt to get people who had not previously thought of going to Oxford to consider it, and apply. It means you get to talk about Oxford to a load of sixth form students, all of whom think you are ace, and it looks great on a CV.

In conjunction with this, I run the LMH Shadowing scheme (coming in Hilary!) and am busy organising the LMH Alternative Prospectus? Interested? Of course you are. Email me at martin.nelson@lmh.ox.ac.uk.

Secretary - Nathalie Higgs

Hi, I'm Nathalie, the JCR secretary. I'm responsible for the general organisation of the JCR exec and committee. I organise the JCR meetings that occur every two weeks; if there are any motions or notices that you would like to present at a JCR meeting then get in touch with me at nathalie.higgs@lmh.ox.ac.uk.

First Year Officer - Izzie Vickers

Hi, I'm Izzie, this year's First Year Officer. My main task for the year is getting Freshers' Week sorted for next Michaelmas, but I'm also responsible for representing all first years on the JCR for any issues affecting us. I'll be working with the social secs, Emma and Annabel, to get all the events for next October in place, but if you want to get involved, or if you've got any suggestions for things you think we should include (or not?) then either email me at isabel.vickers@lmh.ox.ac.uk or feel free to grab me round college.

OUSU Officer - Georgie Day

The role of OUSU Officer is currently held by Georgie Day, but a bi-election will be taking place this term to appoint a new candidate. (More details to follow.)

Social Secretaries - Emma Bowers and Annabel Rolls

As social secretaries, our job is basically to organise social events for the LMH JCR. In addition to 3 bops a term, this also involves open-mic nights, club nights, activity days (such as paintballing) and generally anything either in college or around Oxford that brings LMHers together socially and is fun for everyone! We also want to ensure that the students of LMH all support each other in the plays, concerts and whatever else you guys are involved in so if you send us a message with the details we can include it in our weekly e-mail of events that week. Also if you have any other suggestions of events you would like organised then please get in touch:

emma.bowers@lmh.ox.ac.uk or
annabel.rolls@lmh.ox.ac.uk.

Internal Affairs - Niall Dumigan

'Hi there, I'm Niall and I'm your Internal Affairs Officer. My job is basically a bit of a mix and match of things which nobody else does. Firstly I'm in charge of the rather debouched College Newspaper 'Loo News'
which is published a couple of times every term.

I also have responsibility for our esteemed JCR DVD Library. I spend my yearly DVD budget on everything from Hollywood tat to the latest foreign Arthouse,
basically whatever you guys ask me to buy. (Please do ask, because otherwise I may be forced to rely on my own taste, which is never a good thing.)

From time to time, I have to sit through some rather boring College Committee meetings to represent your interests. These include: Domestic Committee,
Accomodation Committee, Gardening Committee and Mainenance Committee. I will sometimes send out emails asking for feedback for each of these - oh the joy...

I should also be your first port of call (after Bart Ashton, Domestic Bursar) if you have any suggestions/queries/complaints about any of the
services provided to you by either the college or the JCR. This includes accommodation, food, JCR Bar, vending machines, library or common room-related
stuff. Any comments will be treated confidentially unless otherwise instructed, and will then be brought up with either the college or exec at the next available opportunity.'

If you'd like to get in touch, email me at niall.dumigan@lmh.ox.ac.uk. Two other useful emails are
faults@lmh.ox.ac.uk (for when something breaks in your room/kitchen) and bursar@lmh.ox.ac.uk (for anything more complicated than the above).

Sport - James Ibbetson-Price

I'm James, Sports Rep, and I'm in charge of the college sports account. Captains of various sports and societies can contact me to get money for things like balls, ball-pumps and bibs. Anyone playing Blues can get in touch with me at the end of the year to be reimbursed for equipment they have had to buy. If anyone wants to start a new society or sports team, or simply wants to get involved in some college sport, or has any ideas on what the sports budget could be spent on, please come and talk to me or email me at james.ibbetson-price@lmh.ox.ac.uk

Shop Reps - Tom Wherry and Freddie Williams

I suppose you find yourself thinking: "Who are those legends who run the shop?" Well, sirs, the answer is us - Freddie Williams and Tom Wherry. It's open a couple of times a week. Usually. We invite ye all to browse at your own leisure the true delights of 'The Buttery'. Amongst the holdings of the bar lies this JCR shop, and within one can find a multitude of treasures. Many an item can be purchased, a vastness quite unparallelled. Fresh produce such as milk and eggs, consumption goods like pasta and cereal, all combined with an extraordinary array of alcohol.

For guarenteed bant, hit the shop. We're cheaper than Sainsbury's Local.
